It’s another fun week at PHE! Our PreK and Kindergarten friends are still learning and reviewing their colors, so we’re asking the entire Coyote family to help them out! Each day, wear the color of the day and help us fill PHE with purple, brown, white, pink, black, and gray! This is also a BIG week for our Coyote Dash fundraiser! Register your student for FREE at MyBooster.com. Every student who registers gets a FREE prize, even if they haven’t received any pledges yet! Then, start sharing your student’s page with family and friends. The more pledges students earn, the MORE prizes they can earn throughout the week! Our schoolwide goal is $30,000 before our Coyote Dash Glow Run on September 4! And there’s one very important question left to answer… WHO WILL GET SLIMED: DR. EATON OR DR. HALE? Register. Busy day of learning and growing at PHE!

Today, our teachers worked collaboratively in PLCs to establish team norms and strengthen how we work together. After school, the learning continued with UFLI training led by Mrs. Elizabeth Davis and Dr. Ashli Lamons.

Our staff is committed to growing together so we can give our students even more.

Kindergarten Arrival Beginning Tuesday, August 18th:

Starting tomorrow, our Kindergarten students will begin using the regular car line for morning arrival.

At PHE, we know some of our youngest Coyotes may need a little extra support or time getting out of the car and starting their day. Here are your two morning drop-off options:

6:45–7:14 AM: Please use the SECOND entrance from Baker Road and follow the regular morning car line to the back of the building.

7:15–7:29 AM: Kindergarten families who feel their child would benefit from a little extra support may use the FIRST entrance from Baker Road and drop off at the front of the building.

No matter which option you choose, parents should remain in their vehicles at all times. This helps us keep all students safe and keeps our arrival traffic moving efficiently.

It has been a GREAT day at PHE! We are so proud of our Kindergarten students and look forward to all the wonderful days ahead!

Hello PHE Families,

As we finish our first full week of school, Officer Stucky would like to share an important reminder regarding traffic safety around Poplar Hill Elementary.

During morning arrival and afternoon dismissal, the yellow flashing School Zone lights are activated. When these lights are flashing, the posted speed limit is 20 MPH. This limit is not optional or flexible.

Throughout the first week of school, several traffic stops were made for speeding and cell phone use. Warnings were issued during this first week. Beginning next week, school-zone traffic laws will be fully enforced, and citations will be issued for violations.

Please be aware that the fine and court costs for a speeding violation in a school zone are approximately $346. Additionally, traveling 15 MPH or more over the posted school-zone speed limit may constitute reckless driving and can be an arrestable offense.

We understand that mornings and afternoons are busy. Families are heading to work, appointments, practices, and other commitments. However, no schedule is more important than the safety of our students, staff, families, and community members. Please slow down, put your phone away, remain alert, and follow all posted traffic laws while traveling through our school zone.

Our goal is not to issue citations. Our goal is to keep everyone entering and leaving Poplar Hill Elementary safe. Your cooperation makes a tremendous difference.

Thank you for helping us protect our Coyotes and keep PHE safe.

PHE Families,

This morning went VERY smoothly! We know the new traffic pattern can be confusing since everything has flipped to the opposite direction in our parking lot, but you adapted, showed patience, and took care of one another. Our PHE community truly is the BEST!

A few reminders as we continue getting used to our new traffic flow:

• CAR RIDER ENTRANCE: Please enter the parking lot ONLY through our second entrance from Baker Road. This will help us keep traffic moving at a steady pace.

• EXITING: When leaving campus, you have several options. You may turn left, turn right, or continue straight toward Blackman Road. Using all available exits will help prevent backups.

• TWO LANES BEGIN AT 7:10: Once we transition to two lanes, please keep your children IN THE CAR until all traffic has stopped and you see our staff give the thumbs up. This is extremely important for student safety!

• AFTERNOON DISMISSAL: The line will begin the same way. Please DO NOT begin lining up before 1:45 PM.

KINDERGARTEN FAMILIES — TOMORROW IS YOUR TURN!

Kindergarten Phase-In Group A joins us tomorrow! Kindergarten families will enter the parking lot and stop at the library entrance. We will have a photo booth ready for our K families, and our teachers will be there to welcome you and your child as you begin this exciting year at PHE!

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support as we get Year Two underway.

It is going to be a GREAT year at Poplar Hill!

Stronger Together. Family Forever.
